Day 9: The Real Housetastes of Roosevelt Avenue
I began my trek on 98th St and Roosevelt at 11pm to absorb all the Saturday night sights, sounds, and smells of real nitty-gritty home style StreetGrub. I got more than I bargained for. Cart after cart amazed (and scared) me with the oddest configuration of grub – beef tripe, goat, tongue, and hen stew, and entire roasted heads of pigs were proudly displayed under unflattering fluorescent bulbs. As much as I wanted to stop by a cart for my usual (you decide!), I was overwhelmed, and so I present to you my readers my first moment of epic faildom. I went to the safest looking truck and got the safest looking dish, beef with rice and beans. I let myself down tonight, but most importantly, I let you all down as well. To top it off, the beef was extremely dry and chewy. The only highlight of the night was the Arepa Lady that awaited me some 20 blocks away.

theres so many taco trucks there at night.. im always overwhelmed when we drive by… i never know which to try. hence, i still havent tried any carts on roosevelt yet. hope you find a good one!
yeah, it was really street after street of foodtrucks! definitely try the arepa lady if you can!
